A website for electricians that brings in jobs and applications
Electrical businesses rarely have too little work, but often the wrong kind. A website can steer which enquiries come in and who applies.
Most electrical businesses do not need a website to get work in the first place. They need one to get the right work, and to find people who want to work for them.
That is the difference from many tradespeople's websites that already exist: they show a logo, a photo of a control cabinet and a phone number. What is missing is the answer to the questions your customers actually ask: Do you come out for a fault? Do you do solar PV or only installation? How long does a quote take? And for applicants: What is it like to work there?
If your site answers these questions, you get fewer calls that lead nowhere and more enquiries that fit.
The three kinds of enquiry that matter
At their core, electrical businesses get three kinds of enquiry, and each one needs something different on the website:
Faults. Only one thing counts here: is someone reachable? The phone number belongs at the top and has to be tappable on a phone. Add a clear sentence on when you can be reached and when you cannot. That saves calls at 11 pm, and disappointment.
Planned projects. New builds, renovations, solar PV, charging points: here people read several pages and compare. What counts are references, a clear process and an honest statement about what you do and what you do not.
Applications. The channel most often forgotten, even though in many businesses it has become the more important one.
What electrical businesses actually need
- A tappable phone number right at the top, on every device
- Availability in plain words: hours, emergency service yes or no, the area you cover
- Services listed separately instead of in one paragraph: installation, solar PV, wallboxes, electrical safety checks, smart home
- References with pictures, even if it is just a neatly wired distribution board
- A short enquiry form: name, how to reach you, what it is about. Nothing more
- A page for applicants that does not ask for a PDF
Plus the basics every site needs: fast loading, a mobile view, a legal notice and a privacy policy. What is behind them is explained on the page about websites for tradespeople.
Why local visibility matters so much here
When there is a power cut, people rarely type in a company name. They search for “electrician” plus their town and call one of the first results. That search is almost entirely local, and it is decided in two seconds.
That is why an electrician's website needs more than the site itself: a well-kept Google listing with the right hours, genuine reviews and content that actually names the town. How it all fits together is explained under search engine optimisation and, for the region, under web design in Bonn.
Applicants read differently from customers
An applicant page that only says “We are hiring electricians” achieves nothing. People thinking of switching jobs want to know three things: What kind of sites will I be working on? What is the team like? And what is the daily routine: installation work, rotating shifts, a fixed crew?
Three honest paragraphs and two photos of the real team beat any job advert. And a form with three fields beats “send your application to info@”: people who are in work do not write cover letters on their phones.
Frequently asked questions
Is a website worth it if we are already fully booked?
Then it is worth it mainly for two things: a better choice of enquiries, and job applications. If you are fully booked, you can afford to use your website to attract the work you really want.
Should we put prices on the website?
In the electrical trade, that rarely makes sense, because hardly any two jobs are alike. More helpful is an honest sentence on the process: how someone gets a quote and how long that takes.
Do we need a separate page for solar PV?
If you offer it: yes. People search for it on its own, often people who would not have found you otherwise. One subpage is enough, it just has to be detailed enough.
Who looks after the site later?
You can do it yourselves if you like: references and job openings can be changed without any technical knowledge. If you would rather not, just send us a quick message and we will do it.
