A website for roofers that builds trust

A roof is a decision for decades. Whoever makes it wants to see what you can do first, on real roofs, not in catalogue pictures.

Nobody decides on a roof on a whim. Between the first thought and the job there are weeks, several quotes and usually a family discussion. During that time, the website does the work nobody else does: it shows how you work when nobody is watching.

That is why a roofer's website is less a business card and more a collection of evidence. Before and after photos, named materials, a clear process and a sentence about scaffolding and scheduling achieve more than any self-description.

Then there is the second case, which overrides everything else: storm damage. That is not about trust, it is about being reachable.

References are half your pitch

No other trade benefits as much from pictures. What works:

  • Before and after from the same angle, not two random photos
  • Place and year added: “Pitched roof, renovation, Siegburg 2025” is evidence, a picture without details is decoration
  • Name the material: tiles, slate, metal, flat roof waterproofing, insulation
  • Show details where craftsmanship is visible: flashings, valleys, verges

A dozen well-described projects carry more weight than a hundred pictures in a gallery without text.

The two ways enquiries arrive

The planned way. Renovation, re-roofing, insulation, roof windows: here someone reads at their leisure, compares several businesses and gets in touch via the form. That calls for structure, pictures and an honest paragraph about waiting times, because there are waiting times, and they do not put anyone off if they are stated.

The urgent way. Storm, hail, a leak. Here people call, usually from a mobile, often in the rain. What counts: a number you can tap, and a sentence on whether you take on such jobs at all. Claiming an “emergency service” that does not exist is the fastest route to bad reviews.

What the site has to handle technically

Roofers' websites are opened outdoors and on phones more often than average, with poor reception and wet fingers.

That means: fast loading (so compressed images, not the originals straight from the camera), large buttons, a tappable phone number and a form with few fields. Everything else is frills. The basics are explained under websites for tradespeople.

Being found where you work

Roofers rarely drive across the country. The search is correspondingly narrow: trade plus town, often plus a specific job (“gutter repair”, “roof window fitting”).

For the website, that means the places you work in belong on the site, not as a list of thirty place names in the footer, but in real sentences and references. How local visibility works is explained under search engine optimisation.

Frequently asked questions

We hardly have any good photos. Is that a problem?

It is the most common situation, and it can be solved. Usually there are usable pictures spread across several phones, and they are often enough. Where there is nothing at all, you take photos on the next two jobs.

Should we be open about waiting times?

Yes. Anyone who only finds out on the third call that it will take eight weeks is annoyed. Anyone who reads it on the site and still gets in touch is the better customer.

Is a separate page for storm damage worth it?

If you take on that kind of work: yes. People search for it at very short notice, and whoever has a matching page then gets the call.

Can we add references ourselves?

Yes. Adding new projects is the most common wish after launch. We set it up so that it works without us.
